Charles Walter COOMBE and Ann BANKS migrated from Wiltshire, England. It is speculated that they may be the “Mr and Mrs Coombe” who arrived in Sydney on 10 Dec 1849 on the Aztec. What do you think?

 

COOMBE.-October 5, at his residence, Llangwa, Conder-street Burwood, Charles Walter Coombe, aged 63 years, native of Melksham, England, formerly of Raymond Terrace, Hunter River. Home papers please copy.  Sydney Morning Herald 6 Oct 1888. (Note: parents were Joseph and Ruth (NSW BDM), but age does not agree with baptism.)

 

COOMBE. - September 20, at her residence, Melksham, Conder-street, Burwood, Ann, relict of the late Charles Walter Coombe, native of Castle Combe, Wiltshire, England. Sydney Morning Herald 22 Sep 1906. (Note: parents were John and Elizabeth Banks. Ann’s brothers Enoch Banks died in Ashfield NSW in 1860 after being accidentally thrown from his cart, John Jones Banks died at Port Stephens NSW in 1874, Silas Banks died of cholera at Castle Hill NSW 1875. The Banks arrived on the bounty immigrant ship Amelia Thompson in 1839.)

 

Charles and Ann were buried at Rookwood Cemetery, Old Church of England area, Section CC, Row 15, Graves 667 and 668.
